Outreach, Evangelism, and Church Planting

Update time! Not sure the last time I wrote a proper update on the blog, but it was a while ago. I´ll highlight some of the activities and news from the past six months or so. 

Back in May we had an intern with us for several weeks, a student from the Canadian Reformed seminary in Canada. This was the first time we had received an intern and overall it was a really good experience. It was nice to have someone to share the work with.

English in the Pyramids

There is always a mix of excitement and apprehension when starting something new. That was certainly the case as we began planning for an outreach in a neighbourhood we had not been in previously and in which we had no contacts. As we planned, prayed, advertised and waited, the jitters and butterflies were flying about, but in the end, the feeling that stuck with us was one of thankfulness.

Cross Hills

The streets are named things like “Cross of Love”, “Christ the King”, “Hope Corner”, and “Joy Corner”. If you walked those same streets you´d see the irony of their names. More apt names might be “Garbage Hill” and “Crystal Corner”. So when a family who lived there asked us to do an evangelistic event, we readily agreed.

A Week in the Life – VBS Edition

Sunday

Crepes for breakfast and then we are out the door shortly after 11:00 am. On the way to church at Pan de Vida we pick up Laura who lives in Santa Barbara and also attends at Pan de Vida. Return home at 2:00 pm and at 3:00 Armando and Laura, and their two daughters, come over for lunch. After that, we head over to the outreach centre for our 6:00 service. Sermon on Ephesians 2:19-22 – being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets and Christ the cornerstone.
