The first week back in México felt a bit weird, but we adjusted quickly and it feels good to be back. We realized that we missed a lot of the noises, smells and other things that remind us that we are in México. In general, things are a little less neat and tidy here compared to Canada and it makes things more interesting.
The “panadero” driving up and down the streets selling his sweet bread; the guy selling cereal out of the back of his pickup; roosters crowing at dawn (and “not-dawn”) – All of these things made us feel like we were back home.
While we were in Canada we put a pause on our outreach activities here in Santa Bárbara, save a bible study on Sunday. That meant that once we were back we had to restart the English classes, sports club, bible club, etc. Some of it has not gone quite as smoothly as we hoped, and we have had to make a few adjustments and shuffle our schedule around a bit.
On a positive note, there is a new English conversation club on Saturday mornings (two people so far), as well as a bible study with a young guy from the neighbourhood who also volunteers his time at the Esperanza Para Ti children’s home.
So, it feels good to be back to where God has us and to be back in the work God has called us to. The challenges we faced before are still there, but so is our God.

There is a uniqueness to each country and place, as you saw once again when you were back in Canada, and now again as you return to Mexico. The uniqueness is in God’s hand, and so it is with the spread of the gospel! As you returned and now continue your work, be assured that as you go on faithfully in that task, that God will bless the work in His time, the perfect time. We pray that God would equip you both with good courage, that He would provide opportunity, and that He would provide wisdom to do your task well and for His glory and the benefit of your neighbour.
As you begin again, rejoice in the opportunities, reflect on moving forward, be thankful for each occasion that God gives to manifest His greatness, His power, His glory, and His might.
May blessings abound!
